REAL results

Our work has received recognition with awards for both impact on innovation culture and practical results achieved.

We originally engaged with +ADD to help us further develop our technology innovation agenda and add value to our transformation plans.

NWG is investing heavily in ‘innovation with purpose’ and its part of our philosophy to engage, co-create, an encourage fresh thinking from our supply community.

+ADD has worked on a wide range of initiatives with us and has become part of our innovation community.

As well as assisting in aspects of innovation strategy and culture, the team has delivered practical open innovation projects such as gamification competitions, hackathons, design sprints, and challenges across various aspects of our operations
— Nigel Watson, CIO of Northumbrian Water Group

In November 2016, +ADD won the GEM Partnerships award for most impact on corporate innovation culture.  The team delivered 14 projects in 12 months with substantial impact across the national utility organisation.

This year a sensor analytics technology developed on a Hackathon delivered by +ADD Strategy has recently gone on to achieve national recognition and win industry awards having been rolled out across an asset infrastructure of £4 billion.  See our news for more information

The +ADD team are have worked on nearly 30 projects associated with utilities in the past 2 years.  This has ranged from practical challenges around reducing energy and improving billing, to developing smart metering strategy and business cases for investment in IOT sensor developments and software.

In July +ADD worked across the Northumbrian Water Innovation festival on a youth challenge, an app development competition,  a hackathon and a design sprint.  The projects saw +ADD working with over 240 participants in our initiatives including 62 companies, 7 schools and the team recruiting a variety of sponsor and speakers including high profile industry and public sector leaders.

Following the success of the programme +ADD is now working with a range of utilities and infrastructure companies across the UK.

TWO GREAT Competitions for young designers and innovators!

@FutureRoom2017

We recently worked with Reece Group and NWG to build foresight as to the needs and expectations of young people about the future.  The initiative was designed to help young people explore the impact STEM will have on future lives.

£1000 in prizes and free licences for Roomle 3D design software were made available to young participants.

WaterAid APP. Challenge

+ADD have been supporting an initiative to design a working mobile app which helps volunteer hygiene promoters to working in under developed and remote parts of the world!

Free licenses for Nutshell were made available which meant young people participating didn't even have to have coding skills!

If you have an idea for a youth challenge, please contact Fiona Urquhart at +ADD for information on how we can assist in making it happen.
